OxyShred Ultra Energy is a sugar-free, ready-to-drink energy can from EHP Labs. It takes the OxyShred formula out of the tub and puts it in a can, so there is no shaker and no measuring.

Here is what is in it, how much caffeine it carries, and honest answers to what people ask before buying one.

Key points

  • Ready to drink. The OxyShred formula in a can, no shaker or tub required.
  • Sugar free. The main difference from a traditional energy drink.
  • Three caffeine sources. Caffeine anhydrous, guarana and green tea extract.
  • Vitamins and minerals included. B vitamins and vitamin C.
  • One can a day is the recommendation. Count it towards your daily caffeine.

What is OxyShred Ultra Energy?

It is a canned, sugar-free energy drink built on the OxyShred formula. It contains less than 5 calories per serve and comes in Passionfruit, Kiwi Strawberry, Pina Colada, Guava Paradise and Peach Candy Rings.

Practically, it competes with the energy drinks in the fridge at the servo rather than with your pre-workout.

How much caffeine is in OxyShred Ultra Energy?

113 mg of caffeine per can. For reference, that sits in similar territory to a standard energy drink and roughly around a strong home-brewed coffee.

EHP Labs recommends no more than one can per day. That is worth taking seriously if you also drink coffee or use a pre-workout, because caffeine from all sources adds up faster than people expect.

What is in OxyShred Ultra Energy?

The formula splits into four groups. Knowing what each does makes it easier to judge whether you want it.

The caffeine sources

Three of them: caffeine anhydrous, guarana extract and green tea extract. Guarana and green tea both contain caffeine naturally, so the total of 113 mg comes from all three rather than one.

The stated reason for using multiple sources is a smoother, longer energy curve rather than a sharp spike. That is the rationale behind most multi-source caffeine formulas.

The energy metabolism ingredients

L-carnitine, an amino acid derivative found naturally in the body and commonly included in energy formulas, alongside green tea extract and bitter orange extract.

Focus ingredients

Taurine and tyrosine, two amino acids that appear in most energy drinks and are commonly included to support general mental wellbeing.

Vitamins and minerals

A range of B vitamins plus vitamin C, along with chromium and inositol.

Is OxyShred energy drink good for you?

It is better than a sugary energy drink in one clear respect: no sugar, and under 5 calories a serve. Beyond that, it is a caffeinated soft drink and should be judged as one.

For most healthy adults who tolerate caffeine, one a day is fine. It is not a health product, and treating it as one is where people get into trouble. If you are drinking several a day, the honest question is not whether the can is healthy but why you need that much caffeine, and whether sleep is the real problem.

Does OxyShred actually help you burn fat?

Not in any way that will change your body composition on its own.

Caffeine has a small, well-documented effect on metabolic rate and reduces perceived effort during training. That is a real but modest benefit, and it is the same mechanism as a coffee.

What actually determines fat loss is total energy intake against output, sustained over time. A can of anything is a rounding error next to that. If a sugar-free can replaces a sugary drink, or helps you get to a session you would otherwise skip, it contributes indirectly. That is a fair claim. Burning fat is not.

Important. Be sceptical of any drink marketed as a fat burner, this one included. The useful questions are whether you enjoy it and tolerate the caffeine, not whether it will do the work of a diet.

What are the side effects of OxyShred?

They are caffeine's side effects, and they scale with how much you have and how sensitive you are.

  • Jitteriness and a raised heart rate, particularly if you are not a regular caffeine drinker.
  • Disrupted sleep if you drink it later in the day. Caffeine has a long half-life.
  • Headaches, often on the days you skip it rather than the days you have it.
  • Stomach discomfort for some people, especially on an empty stomach.

Stacking it with a pre-workout, coffee and a fat burner is the most common cause of a bad experience, because the caffeine adds up.

Is it okay to drink OxyShred every day?

EHP Labs recommends a maximum of one can per day, and for most healthy adults who tolerate caffeine that is unlikely to be a problem.

  • Track total daily caffeine from all sources, not just this one.
  • Watch the timing. Afternoon caffeine is the most common hidden cause of poor sleep.
  • Expect tolerance. If you need it to function, that is worth noticing.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, sensitive to caffeine, or have a heart condition, high blood pressure or anxiety, check with your GP before making it a daily habit.

When should I drink it?

Whenever you want the lift: in the morning, about 15 minutes before training, or as an afternoon pick-me-up. There is no complicated timing protocol.

The one timing rule worth following is avoiding it late in the day, for the sleep reasons above.

How does it compare to a normal energy drink?

The main practical difference is sugar. A traditional energy drink can carry a substantial amount; this one has none and under 5 calories a serve.

Caffeine is broadly comparable at 113 mg per can, so do not assume sugar free means gentler. It also carries the vitamin, mineral and amino acid additions listed above, which most standard energy drinks do not.

Should you drink it?

It is a sensible swap if you already drink energy drinks and want to drop the sugar, and a reasonable occasional pick-me-up if you tolerate caffeine well.

It is not a fat burner in any meaningful sense, not a health drink, and not a replacement for sleep. Judged as a sugar-free energy drink that tastes good and carries a moderate caffeine dose, it does that job well.

All flavours are available in the OxyShred Ultra Energy range, in store and online.
